Whether you’re a Dubliner or a tourist, you can’t deny how lovely it is to pass through the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. For decades it has been an elegant gem of a building that stands out among its neighbours on South William Street. If you’re like me, it’s hard to walk by without snapping a photo of the old building, with those steps leading up to that garden haven. And that’s just on a normal day, but those folks take Christmas seriously, and it’s a spectacular sight to see!

I will be honest and say that I used to be a bit of a Grinch… but things are changing between me and Christmas these days. With that being said, I’m now kind of obsessed with all things winter wonderland and where ever that may be, is where I shall go. It just so happens that the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is one of those spots in Dublin, that doesn’t take the festive season lightly. Think of carols playing, stars and lights shining at all hours of the day and all of the gorgeous boutiques and shops displaying their beautiful winter goods. What’s more, they host some great events, and here’s the one’s you cannot miss.

Christmas Lights at the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre!

If you absolutely cannot wait for the Christmas season to be in full swing, then you have to get yourself over to Powerscourt Townhouse Centre next Thursday. On the 17th of November at 6pm, the beautiful building will be lit up for their very own switching on of the Crimbo lights. Go along to kick off the festivities, no matter who you choose to bring. Lots of fun for kids of all ages who would like to watch the glittery lights. Or enjoy a cute date night and top it off with a drink in Pygmalion afterwards.

Santa’s Coming!

Santa Claus arrives at the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre on Saturday, the 3rd of December at 12pm. If you can’t make it down that weekend, do not fret! Santy will be there every weekend in the lead up to Christmas (which thankfully includes the 21st, 22nd and 23rd). This is a first come, first served visit so no need to worry about booking. Look forward to happy childer, stunning music from the Clarendon Christmas Choir and plenty more – there will be something for everyone.

The Simon House of Light

The most special event of all at the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, is taking place from the 8th to the 10th of December. The Simon House of Light is a fantastic event, to raise some much needed funds for the Simon Community. This wonderful charity work extremely hard all year round, trying to beat the current homeless crisis occurring in Ireland today. Events like these are the perfect opportunity to help the guys over at Simon as well as being able to enjoy a great day out with friends or family. There will be lots happening including live music and street performances, all in the dreamy setting of the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre. Put it in your diaries!
